The NHPO’s Holiday "Pops" concert on Dec 1 was a smashing success, over 800
attendees In addition to the usual holiday far, including Tschaikowski’s
"Nutcracker Suite", the orchestra performed works not usually played at this
time of year: "Danse Negre’" by African American composer Samuel Coleridge
Taylor and Aram Kachaturian’s "Masquerade Suite".

Special thanks to our guest Conductor, Mr. Patrick C. Smith, a conductor and
music educator from Ahmerst Mass, and to Kori Kindya, Stephanie White, Kaitie
Feloney, and San Gray, all members of the Merrimack High School Band, for
playing Saxophone with us.

The concert finale, Leroy Anderson’s "A Christmas Festival" was performed as
a sing-along, and brought nearly fulll-house audience to its feet, as did the
orchestra’s encore "Sleigh Ride". Following the concert, the NHPO Board of
Directors provided a holiday reception for orchestra members and their
families. All in all, the evening proved to be a perfect beginning to this
year’s holiday season.
