Hiking

There are several exciting trails for those that love to hike. Located on the eastern border of Stowe, The Pinnacle Trail offers a 1.4-mile gradual hike up to the Pinnacle - a 2,740-foot peak in the Worcester range.

The peak of the trail highlights stunning views of Stowe Village and Mt. Mansfield and takes about 2.5 hours round trip. On the west side of town is the Long Trail, which offers a 265-mile trail system running throughout Vermont.

Beginning in Smugglers' Notch and heading north, the trail climbs up over "Elephants Head" to Sterling Pond. For the more experienced hikers, Stowe offers the Long Trail South from Smugglers' Notch up Mt. Mansfield. Although the climb is steep and rocky, the views across Lake Champlain to the Adirondacks make it worthwhile.
